A clinicopathological study on interface dermatitis

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Diagnosis of skin disorders that exhibit interface dermatitis is challenging in few scenarios. Despite sincere efforts, clinical examination per se can help us reach a handsome differential diagnosis but not gunshot specific diagnosis. Dermatopathology acts as saviour to clinicians such cases. Though histopathology the gold standard, still one cannot make “specific” by alone because many have overlapping features. Therefore, present study aims at importance clinicopathological correlation. The objectives were and histopathological features various dermatoses, which histopathologically estimate concordance.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> This was cross-sectional done on 50 patients attending outpatient department (OPD), with lesions suggestive dermatoses known histologically. Strobe guidelines followed. After thorough examination, punch biopsies observed microscopically detect dermatitis, if present. Secondary pathological studied assess concordance. Microsoft excel statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) 21.0 used data analysis.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> 76.74% cases lichen planus its variants. most common presentation papules. Among microscopic features, predominant finding basal cell vacuolar change epidermis (97.70% cases). Clinicopathological concordance seen 43 (83%). 7 diagnosed solely based histological correlation.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> A myriad primary feature. Only an apt correlation secondary lead from bunch diagnoses.</p>
